MLB - Jays New Ace?
So far this MLB season Toronto Blue Jays fans have been delighted to see that young Jesse Litsch is starting to bloom into a quality pitcher. With a 7-2 record 3.45 ERA and and 3.4:1 K/BB ratio Litsch is making a big impact for the Blue Jays so far. Many fans are saying that with Litsch and Halliday the Blue Jays could have the best staff in the AL if not the entire league.
But there is one person that Jays fans have been forgetting so far this season, and that person is Shaun Marcum. While Marcum’s record (5-3) may not be as good as Litsch’s (7-2) Marcum’s ERA is a sparkling 2.52, good for 2nd in the AL behind only Clelavnd’s Cliff Lee (2.45). Marcum currently has 33 more K’s than Litsch and has given up 17 less hits in 15 1/3 more innings.
However the run support has not been there for Marcum as in his last 8 games he has given up 12 runs and only has 3 wins to show for it. Hopefully the Jays can get some more runs for Marcum and his record can start to reflect his excellent pitching.
This would do justice to Marcum who would then recieve recognition around the league for his excellent pitching.
