NHL - Serves the Leafs Right
I realize that writing this will probably earn me the ire of every Toronto Maple Leaf fan out there but I feel the need to address this current issue. Over the weekend it was revealed that the Montreal Canadiens have been granted exclusive rights to talk to Leafs captain Mats Sundin about becoming a Canadien. Now Leaf fans are up in arms that Sundin might leave and the Leafs will get nothing in...
The Mailbag
So the way this works is im going to show the question posed by you the reader and then post my answer underneath. I got a few emails this week but im hoping for even more next week. So let”s get started.
“Do you actually think he can be given the best golfer in history if he doesnt beat Jack Nicklaus’s records? I mean that’s like saying Sidney Crosby is the best hockey...
MLB - Gibbons Out and Cito In...Ricciardi Next?
It is being reported by TSN.ca that Toronto Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons has been fired and will be replaced by…..Cito Gaston! Along with Gibbons goes coaches Marty Pevey, Ernie Whitt and Gary Denbo. Dwayne Murphy will take over as the first Base Coach, Nick Leyva will coach at third base and Gene Tenace returns as the hitting coach.
But the real news here is the return of the greatest...
NHL - Should Have Been A Locke
With the NHL Entry Draft set to happen tonight in Ottawa you would expect that I would write on that but unfortunately for me I don’t know enough about junior hockey to speak on the matter. I know Steve Stamkos will go first overall and then expect there to be a lot of defensemen taken. I also know that almost every player who played for the Team Canada World Juniors will get drafted as...
Your Opinion
I am going to ask everyone a question and I would love to get your feedback and thoughts. This question is asked mostly to people of Toronto but it can be relatable to many scenarios.
Question: If Vince Carter retired next year and his last game was in Toronto after the game was over would you boo him?
The question was asked to me by a co-worker and in the course of my day I changed my answer...
Soccer - Knock Out Stage
After Russia’s convincing victory over Sweden yesterday the knockout bracket has been filled and should provide for some amazing games. Now looking back I think I did a pretty decent job with some of my predictions but I will say that after watching yesterdays game calling Group D the weakest group was unfair. Russia looked dominant against Sweden in a 2-0 win that very easily could have...
One Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
The Boston Celtics win the NBA Championship and no article is needed because everyone knew they were going to win it from the start. Just look at the face of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce it says it all really.
Great Series. Great Season. Great Team. Raptors in ‘09.
Hit or Miss
Hit
Everything They Could Have Dreamed For - The NBA got exactly what it wnated out of the NBA Finals this year. It was exciting, historic, and had some amazing basketball. Two historic teams clashing again in an amazing series that ended with the Lakers getting embarassed by a NBA Finals record 39 points in game 6 last night.
About Time – Willie Randolph was fired on Tuesday which begs the...
MLB - Randolph Shown the Door
After weeks of speculation that his job was in jeopardy, Willie Randolph, Manager of the New York Mets, finally got fired while most Met fans were fast asleep dreaming about him getting fired.
This was a long time coming for Randolph as he, and everyone else, knew that his time was coming after 2 1/2 months into the season he had the Mets at a 34-35 record. This is also following the epic...

NBA - Shipping Up to Boston
It seem that the Lakers didn’t get the memo that they were supposed to lay down and die. Last night the Lakers, led by Kobe Bryant’s 25 points, beat the Celtics 103-98. Many people felt that the Celtics wanted to win it all at home and were simply going to phone it in but that wasn’t the case last night as they fought back from a 19 point deficit to make the game close late. ...
Golf - How Good is Tiger?
Yesterday Tiger Woods played the worst round of golf I have ever seen him play. He missed fairways, made bad decisions, and was notably limping all day due to the surgery he recently had done on his left knee. He was at his worst and yet he forced an 18 hole playoff with a clutch birdie putt on 18. Now he hasn’t wont yet but he is 10-1 lifetime in playoffs and I personally think the...
No Update Today
Taking the day off because its Fathers Day.
Will be back tomorrow to talk about the US Open, which Tiger Woods is going to win, and the NBA Finals.
Have a great Sunday everyone and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
NFL - Bills Move to Toronto?
Earlier this year it was announced that over the next few seasons the Buffalo Bills would play some regular seasons games at the Skydome (I refuse to call it the Rogers Center). This is seen as a move to test how well the NFL would do in Toronto and to see if it would be viable to move the team to the great white north permanently.
Of the new idea Bills team officials had this to say,...
Soccer - Euro 2008 First Thoughts and Predictions
Euro 2008 is underway and even the casual soccer fan is out there buying those little flags to put in their car doors. This is a time when national pride comes out in full force and people can either brag as their team pushes for victory or cry and complain when their team loses.
Even though I work during the day and should realistically miss all of the games there is a TV in the lunchroom and...
NBA - Historic Comeback Kills Lakers Championship...
I get up for work every morning at 5:45am so I tend to go to bed pretty early to ensure that I get my beauty sleep. Normally this doesn’t cause any problems but this morning when I woke up and checked the final score from last nights NBA Finals Game 4 I thought that maybe I was still asleep and possibly having a nightmare.
I went to bed last night at half time and saw the Los Angeles Lakers...
NHL – Robbery at NHL Awards
Last night the NHL held their yearly award ceremony where the top hardware, besides the Stanley Cup, was given out. Most of the trophies went to the most deserving such as the Hart going to Alexander Ovechkin and Bruce Boudreau winning the Jack Adams award. There was one travesty that did occur however and that was Martin Brodeur winning the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender.
In my opinion...
NBA - Black Eye for Sports
In August of last year it was revealed that NBA referee Tim Donaghy was involved in the fixing of numerous NBA games in order to make money for the mob, his friends, and also himself. Once Donaghy was found out a full on investigation was launched by the FBI to look deeper into the matter. During the course of the investigation Donaghy has had no problem in ratting out his fellow referees...
2008 The Year of the Retirement
With the looming announcement of Trevor Linden’s retirement his name will be added to the lengthening list of top athletes who are calling it quits in 2008. The Canucks captain who has served the team for many years, and will always been known to fans as “Captain Canuck”, is expected to announce his retirement in a press conference later this afternoon. The more troubling piece of news however is...
Hit-or-Miss
Miss
Toronto Blue Jays - The Bluebirds continued there hitless ways stranding 13 runners last night including leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th. Bases were loaded with 0 out and not a single run was produced. Gotta bring those runners home if you want to win games boys.
Dontrelle Willis - 0-1 10.32 ERA and 5 K’s to 21 BBs in 11.1 IPs all this at the price...
NHL - Wilson Savior of Leafs?
Before we get started it needs to be stated that I am not a Leaf fan. I am the furthest thing from a Leaf fan and normally their misfortune gives me great satisfaction. I personally feel they are the worst franchise in sports, not financially, but intelligence wise and ethically. They gouge their fans at every turn charging ridiculous ammounts for tickets, jerseys, and most importantly beer. ...
MLB - Jays New Ace?
So far this MLB season Toronto Blue Jays fans have been delighted to see that young Jesse Litsch is starting to bloom into a quality pitcher. With a 7-2 record 3.45 ERA and and 3.4:1 K/BB ratio Litsch is making a big impact for the Blue Jays so far. Many fans are saying that with Litsch and Halliday the Blue Jays could have the best staff in the AL if not the entire league.
But there is...
